In conjunction with the Cindy Sherman retrospective at SFMOMA in 2012, I participated in a project in which drag queens restaged images from the show. My portrait reenacts her Untitled #360.
The project was organized by the San Francisco Bay Guardian (see August 15, 2012 issue), conceived by Marke B., photographed by Keeney + Law, with art direction by Brooke Robertson and assistance from Caitlin Donohue; the other models included Fauxnique, Lady Bear, and Boy Child.
The collaboration also involved a series of performance at SFMOMA as part of SFBG’s A Toast to Cindy Sherman, in which I performed in character to Carole King’s “(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman” and Peggy Lee’s “Is That All There Is?”.
